Advanced Policy: Critical and Practical Perspectives on Aging, Spr

Course Policies

Attendance:
Attendance at the face-to-face class meeting is required.
If you need to be excused from one of the face-to-face meetings because of illness or a personal or family emergency, please notify me in advance of the meeting and I will arrange for someone in the class to take notes for you.

I do not anticipate a time when we will meet together remotely at a stated time but it might be necessary in rare circumstances. You may be asked to live tweet an important event but if you cannot do it at the time of the event you can still tweet about the event assuming it has been archived or recorded.

Quizzes and Exams:
There are no quizzes, exams or mid-terms but you will have assignments that require annotations that demonstrate your comprehension of the assigned material.

Team Assignments:
Team work is not graded but you are expected to participate with your team in completing assignments.

Late Assignment Policy:
This design of this class is based on the expectation that you complete your required weekly assignments in a timely fashion. With a few exceptions you will be required to post these assignments as paths on your Individual Bio Page in the Scalar book. If you think you will have trouble completing an assignment on time, DM me via our Slack channel in advance about the possibility of arranging an extension.

Laptops, Tablets and Smartphones: Please bring your laptops to the first face-to-face meeting. If you cannot, I will ask others to share. Some students have been able to use a tablet or smartphone instead but these may not provide access to all of the features of the programs we will be using.

Academic Integrity and Plagiarism:
You will find that for most assignments you will be interacting with and utilizing web sites, and posting to the media sites of the class. This means that the sources are included in the work so there is rarely an instance when it would be appropriate or necessary to use APA citation. The only exception would be if you decided to do a traditional essay for your optional project.
