‘A Woman of Great Courage’: Women in the Printing Trades in Early Modern Europe

Anne Thomas (d. 1625) (The widow of Antoine de Harsy)

Anne Thomas, the widow of Antoine de Harsy, was the daughter of a merchant from Lyons. She married the Lyon bookseller de Harsy in Geneva in 1586. After his death in 1607, she took over management of the shop, and was active until 1624. Between 1619 and 1624 she worked in association with her son-in-law, the bookseller Pierre Ravaud. She died in 1625. Her imprints identify her as "viduam Antonii de Harsy".
