Four lands among others are especially dear… The Soviet land, where my childhood came into Spring and flowered, Yiddishland, which kindled its fire throughout the world, America—my second home, where my poetry summered… And another land—a blue land…its name in the prayers That my parents with blessings mentioned three times a day. With deeds of wonder I veiled it since childhood And now, in its wondrous flowering, recognized my own.
