Emigrant Creek Watershed

Little Applegate River Watershed
Emigrant Creek is a tributary of the lower Bear Creek Watershed in Ashland, Oregon. It is named for the pioneer settlers who crossed it several times during the 1850s. The tributary stems from Emigrant Lake, a man-made reservoir created in 1924 to reduce the impact of flooding and store irrigation water for farmers. Emigrant Creek flows through Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument and helps drain the valley below Greensprings Mountain. The watershed supports some of the richest biodiversity on earth due to its sloped topography, Mediterranean and micro-climates, annual fire regimes, and floodplain forests. It also provides numerous outdoor recreational opportunities for citizens (Janson, 2019).
