1. Dittmer, E. A Summary of the Historic and Current Status of Water Resource Management in the Creek Watershed. (2004):[Special Collections: HD1694.O7 D58]

This document summarizes the hydrological conditions of the Bear Creek Watershed over time. It also includes the historical perspectives of early settlers in regards to the watershed’s health and use. Historically, Bear Creek flows have been high during the cool, wet winters and low during the hot, dry summers. As human populations in the watershed continued to increase, though, Bear Creek could no longer meet the growing demands of cities and agriculture. Therefore watershed management projects were proposed to mitigate these effects.

2. Bear Creek Watershed Council, & Rogue Valley Council of Governments. Bear Creek Watershed Assessment: Phase II - Bear Creek Tributary Assessment. Rogue Valley Council of Governments. Rogue Valley Council of Governments. Central Point, Oregon. (2001): [Special Collections: Government Publications: ORG/W31 .2B42x part 1, part 2]

This report features a continuation of research completed by the Rogue Valley Council of Governments (RVCOG) in the Bear Creek Watershed to present a multi-level ecosystem model of the Bear Creek Valley. This model was designed to enable watershed assessment, describe the historical and current conditions of the watershed and water-related resources within the Bear Creek Valley such as its tributaries, water quality, and fishery habitat conditions. It also describes the trends of change in these resources, addresses federal and state regulatory mandates implemented in recent years, and identifies the opportunities available and needed to create a more viable, healthy, and productive watershed.
