Alliana Persaud: Research Question
My overall research questions is: Window Seat: How do respectability, intersectionality and race find symmetry in different settings? My final project will be in the form of a webpage through my main website: http://allianapersaud.com. I will utilize this webpage to present different issues surrounding black female sexuality. I will attempt to confront stereotypes about the origins of black respectability politics and how the double standards within the practice affect black women differently from black men. I will also use my own subject position to talk about my stance as an international student and woman of color, living in the U.S. I will be using photos I took in February during Black History Month on the webpage and also include links to relevant sources of information that support my ideas.
