Reasons range from family issues, money problems, to curiosity and empowerment. This path will explore the Burlesque Individual throughout the ages and how their personal lives and backgrounds influenced their entrance into the industry. It will provide accounts from dancer interviews from the 50s and 60s, interviews from exotic dancers in 2012, and a current Burlesque Academy of Dance that has an eclectic faculty of performers and teachers. It seems that even though the times have drastically changed since the 1950s, there are many similar reasons as to why a woman wants to become a burlesque dancer.
