Romaniote Memories: A Jewish Journey from Ioannina, Greece to Manhattan: Photographs by Vincent Giordano

Special thanks

Special thanks to Vincent Giordano's family, Hilda Giordano and Elizabeth Cipriano, for their encouragement and cooperation.

The leadership and indefatigable energy of Renee Pappas has brought new life to Vincent Giordano’s vision and made this exhibition a reality.

Thanks to Professor Nicholas Alexiou (Sociology and Director of the Hellenic American Project) for coordinating the donation of Vincent Giordano's collection to Queens College, and for supporting the creation of this online exhibition and related programming.

The entire Romaniote Memories project from its inception would not have been possible without the active encouragement and participation of Marcia Haddad Ikonomopoulos and the leadership of the Kehila Kedosha Janina Synagogue

The exhibition organizers gratefully acknowledge the support of Georgia and Anastasios Parafestas, Ted and Lea Pedas, Jim and Wanda Pedas, the National Hellenic Society, Fern Karesh Hurst, Fidelity Charitable and other donors in making this exhibition possible.

Vincent Giordano's work was supported in the past by generous grants from The Horace W. Goldsmith Foundation, The Carl and Lily Pforzheimer Foundation, The Lucius and Eva Eastman Fund, The Goldie and David Blanksteen Foundation and anonymous donors. The Cahnman Foundation and the Hanadiv Charitable Foundation / Rothschild Foundation funded photography and filming in Greece in 2006. Mr. Giordano received a grant from the Fulbright Foundation in 2009 with the Jewish Museum of Greece acting as the host institution.

The exhibition has received letters of support from the Embassy of Greece, Washington, DC, the Greek Orthodox Archbishop of North America, B'nai B'rith International, American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association, and Fulbright Greece.
