For our project we studied King Solomon’s story and his prayer for wisdom. This text can be found in First Kings 1-11.Solomon was appointed king after the death of King David at the age of 12. Solomon was a young king who did not have the knowledge to rule, but he was a faithful man of the Lord.God asked Solomon what he wanted and Solomon replied with an understanding mind to govern with. God was so pleased with this answer and granted Solomon with the gift of wisdom to rule with. God also told Solomon that if he stayed faithful, he would lengthen Solomon’s life. Solomon but faced many situations that challenged his wisdom. The Queen of Sheba heard of King Solomon’s wisdom and wanted to see him for herself. She came to Jerusalem and tested Solomon with many hard questions but he answered them all correctly. Solomon is an important text because he was known for his wealth, construction, and wisdom. Solomon judged and ruled with his wisdom. People praised King Solomon for his thoughtful and right decisions. The interpretations of Solomon's text have mostly consisted of when he receives his wisdom, the judgment of solomon which is when he puts his wisdom to the test between the two mothers fighting over the baby and when the Queen of Sheba comes to visit him because she heard of his wisdom. Over time they have all kind of been the same but evolved based personally on what the artist is going through in the time of history. Between the interpretations we found all artist agreed that it was a strategic move on his part to receive his wisdom. These interpretations were usually during eras of new wisdom, knowledge, and learning.
