The International Prester John Project: How A Global Legend Was Created Across Six Centuries

Niccolò de' Conti

Niccolò de' Conti (1395-1469) was a Venetian merchant and traveler who ventured to Indonesia from 1419-1439. During his travels he meets Pero Tafur

The account of his travels was dictated to Poggio Bracciolini in 1444, and this text is included in Poggio's De Varietate Fortunae, in which the narrative voice frequently shifts between Poggio and Niccolò.
