Edgar Allan Poe : Portrayal in the Media: an Annotated Bibliography of Edgar Alla Poe as a character

“The Poe and the Pendulum”. Big Bad Beetleborgs

“The Poe and the Pendulum”. Big Bad Beetleborgs. writ. Joel M. Barkow and Louis J. Zivot.  dir. Keeter, Worth. FOX Kids, 6 Nov. 1997.

In Episode 20 of Season 1 of Big Bad Beetleborgs (later known as Beetleborg Metallix).

Show starts with a lot of Poe references: “Black Raven Pie” A Raven flies into the room.

Poe appears after the raven. He appears wide-eyed and speaks in a monotone voice with no inflection making him appear as if he is in a zombie state. Poe claims to be a ghost writing his new novel and wants the help of the monsters that live in the house (who are main characters in the series).  Poe recites the Raven, but with a twist of “nothing more” instead of nevermore.

Poe wants to be referred to as “Mr. Poe” and later on uses a loud villanous laugh as he goes around murdering the monsters by recreating his own horror stories.  It’s a lot more lighthearted than it sounds.
