Introduction to the Activity
Welcome to an introduction to world history through historical phenomena! Inspired by the "Crash Course: World History" and "Crash Course: World History 2," my goal is to teach world history from a different angle. Thanks to this project, you will experience the history of the world not through people, places, and dates; but through different conceptual phenomena that occurred throughout history. These phenomena have shaped the very foundations of how we look at history, sparking debates of how historians and non-historians alike choose to look at how humans lived and progressed in the past. Not only that, but these phenomena have transcended cultural boundaries, occurring alongside, separate, or adapted by other cultures throughout the course of history.
But what does all of this mean? Why is all this important?
Well, that is for you to explore! Throughout the project, you will be presented several historical phenomena that occurred throughout different periods of history. Some of the activities will provide you with readings, videos, or other interactive tools for you to learn about the history of the world. After using these tools, a series of critical thinking questions at the end of each page. These questions can be answered in the comments for you to share with other students of this activity. Additional comments or scholarly rebuttals on other people's answers are always encouraged!
**PLEASE NOTE: This activity is not for you to accurately portray history, but rather challenge your understanding of what you know by being presented counterpoints or information that questions preset beliefs on the topics provided.
