PWH 101
Welcome to Phenomenal World History 101!
This section of activities will provide an introduction for viewers and participants into exploring the global history of phenomena. The goal of these activities are to help you practice and develop critical thinking skills in order to look at history from different perspectives. Rather than challenging your views of history, this activity aims to challenge one’s understanding of a given topic. This is because it is important for historians and non-historians alike to broaden their horizons on a topic in order to develop a logical conclusion. As you will see, each section you go through will present five different topics for you to explore and research. Each topic will also provide three questions provided for you to answer and post in the comment section.
For this activity, the topics we will cover in this section are listed below:
1) Civilization - Rethinking how we look about civilization while observing historical practices of rejecting civilization.
2) City-States - Rethinking what makes a city a city-state.
3) Democracy - Understanding the failures of democracies and why countries succumb to authoritarianism.
4) Trade - Rethinking how we look at trade and the human elements that make something valuable.
5) Vikings - Reshaping how we view the Vikings and their impact on the world.
