INTRODUCTION
Historically speaking, war is nothing new to humankind. Wars have been fought for land and resources since the beginning of recorded time. War has changed and evolved many times over, with newer ways and methods taken into practice at every turn of the decade or century. However, recent wars are no longer limited to a single nation or group of allied nations, but rather alliances that span the entire globe. In the 20th century, the world experienced two “World Wars” that involved almost every nation militarily, politically, or economically. These World Wars have shaped how governments have approached war and conflict since.
With this in mind, the question should be asked about what makes a war go global. Why should nations across the globe join a conflict that they may or may not have anything to do with? Is there a point for nations who can’t fight militarily to join any war? Since the 20th century, proxy wars and “cold wars” became byproducts of the effects of world wars. In order to answer these questions, let’s look at the activity below.

Now that we have gone through this activity, let’s answer the following questions in the comment section:
1) What elements make a war become a "world war?"
2) Can a world war be limited to a region?
3) Based on your research, why do you think the Congo War was called the "Africa's World War?"
