Professional and Academic achievements

A summer 1995 visiting faculty appointment at the University of Wisconsin – Madison ( my alma mater),
The first African American woman in the history of The Ohio State University elected to the position of departmental chairwoman,
Elected in 1998 vice-president of the American Educational Research Association (AERA) Division G ( Social Context).

My current teaching duties include teaching various curriculum courses, as well as two courses created and instituted in African American educational history, both of which are now part of the College’s multicultural course offerings and attracts students from across campus as well as those in the COE’s certification programs.

Ph.D, The University of Wisconsin-Madison, 1979 in Curriculum and Instruction as a major and Educational Policy as a minor. 1979 Dissertation: ” The Educational Life Histories of High School Dropouts.”
M.S. The University of Wisconsin-Madison in Urban Education.
B.S. Quinnipiac College, Hamden, Connecticut in English Literature

I came to Ohio State University in 1979 in the Early and Middle Childhood Education Department. During a College wide reorganization in 1983, I transferred into the Department of Educational Policy and Leadership, where I currently work. Currently I teach courses in Curriculum Studies, a two course sequence in African American educational history, and a core course in the Cultural Studies Program.
