Opening Up Space: A Lovely Technofeminist Opportunity

Family Ties

The author's life is influenced by family relations and complications. The author's choices are often implicated by the multi-facted identities of their families -- as a daughter, sister, wife, or mother.

For instance, Dinah Mulock Craik's life was greatly affected by her father's mood disorder, which by today's psychological standards would be defined as bipolar disorder.  Indeed, one of the reasons why she became financially independent was because her father left her and her brothers without any money. She took up writing as a profession to earn a living.
