This website is the production of the "Central Avenue Collective," a working group of university scholars, community-based organizations, LA City government, and others.  Thanks to funding provided by Councilmember Curren D. Price Jr. and  the LA City Department of Cultural Affairs, this working group seeks to assemble and make available to all interested parties, the broadest base of knowledge about the historical past and living present of the Central Avenue Cultural Corridor, stretching from Little Tokyo at the north of Central Avenue, to its terminus south of Watts.

Many National Register of Historic Places sites and Los Angeles city-designated Cultural Heritage Sites already exist along the Central Avenue Corridor, and many more have been documented and recognized by nonprofits like the Los Angeles Conservancy, but as yet no overarching framework has been launched that strategically draws all this information together, in a way that can also serve as a reference for allied planning and development projects such as Cultural Tourism and Business Improvement Districts  This public resource site seeks to serve that purpose. It represents a collaboration between city, university, and neighborhood organizations.
