Indie Game: The Movie

MPAA Rating: NR (Not-Rated)

Description: Indie Game: The Movie is a Sundance award–winning feature documentary from 2012 that highlights the lives of four indie video game developers. Lisanne Pajot and James Swirsky are the directors, producers, cinematographers, editors and distributors of their film depicting the personal and professional journeys, including the financial and emotional capital, involved with creating video games and other content in the digital era.

Atari: Game Over

MPAA Rating: TV-14

Description: Atari: Game Over is a 2014 documentary directed by Zach Penn, about the Atari Corporation and what is known as “The Great Video Game Burial of 1983.” After Atari’s dismal sales of the video game “E.T. the Extra Terrestrial,” the company was faced with an enormous over–stock of the game (as well as others) that resulted from the dwindling sales of all of Atari’s products. The number of unsold cartridges, and what the company did with them, became somewhat of a “mystery” until this documentary was filmed.
