Vision

Game Changers showcases and communicates the human experience — as witnessed in influential video games that have impacted cultural views and behaviors — in order to educate, inspire, and foster a local community.

Focus

This year’s exhibit explores reinventions in storytelling — with a focus on games that have emerged from the independent “indie” video game scene — ranging from metaphorical experiences like Papo & Yo and Braid to games imbued with player-choice like The Stanley Parable and Life is Strange.

Goals

1. Inspire an interest in digital technology — from its development, to design, to cultural impact — as a field of study for K-16 students of Vancouver

2. Showcase and inspire new and unique methods of storytelling in video games, exposing individuals to developments in digital narrative

3. Promote the independent video game scene and local game development

4. Establish and foster a local community experience

Audience

K-12, college level students, digital tech-centered businesses (IPZ and beyond), and art-lovers who support the Vancouver Arts District
