Eugene Mordant

Eugene Mordant (1885-1959) was a Free French General during World War 2. He served mostly in Indochina, directing the French forces resisting the looming Japanese power in the area.  For his service, he became the de facto representative for the FCNL (French Committee of National Liberation) in Indochina.  Following a Japanese coup d'etat on March 9th, 1945, Mordant was taken as a prisoner of war in Indochina until the end of the war later that year ("Eugène Mordant."; "Japanese Coup D'état in French Indochina.").
