For Instructors, they help communicate expectations and shape the criteria and appearance of an assignment’s desired ends. Rubrics also encourage consistent evaluation from student-to-student. For students, they aid in understanding expectations and the steps needed to effectively complete the assignment. Rubrics also show the process of development between each of these steps and can aid in both composition and revision practices.
