COVID-19 Pandemic Perspectives

Embedding Perspective Sources Example (Dr Brandt)

[Give your source a caption, something like this.] On April 7, 2020, CNN correspondent Van Jones spoke out to the African American community to address common myths circulating about COVID-19.

I embedded the link above by using the iFrame tool (looks like a globe in a white box) and pasting the link to the CNN op-ed. I made the box 800 wide and 400 high.

Unfortunately, CNN blocked Scalar's access :(

You can also just include a link like this:
Van Jones Op-Ed - Start screaming at the black community

From there, you can either copy and quote relevant parts of the text using the Block Quote tool (the white quotation mark tool above).

Or, you can take screenshots, upload them as media (be sure to give your files clear names you'll be able to find easily!) and embed screenshots them in the page using the Insert Scalar Media Link tool (the blue triangle). If you go this path, try to use as few as possible so you don't have too many files to keep track of.

You can also import videos from websites like Vimeo and YouTube by following these directions: https://scalar.usc.edu/works/guide2/importing-media-from-non-affiliated-archives?path=importing-media-from-online-archives

That looks like this:

Any media you upload (such as PDFs and video files) will create a new media page in Scalar where you can add annotations.
