A Conceptual Framework of Technology for Learning and Teaching

Puzzling with MS-DOS Games

In my own home, there was a succession of technology: the old DOS machines, floppy disks and “educational” games from Sierra Online. My favorites were Mixed-up Mother Goose and the Castle of Dr. Brain. These games were more engaging and challenging, not only because they took advantage of new color monitors and a mouse that allowed me to navigate more complex images and stories on the screen, but also because there was something unexpected, at least in my first play of each game. Still, there was always an input to be entered precisely or a single correct answer to find.
