Racionais MCs
History
The talented rap group is made up of three rappers by the names of: Mano Brown (Pedro Paulo Soares Pereira), Ice Blue (Paulo Eduardo Salvador), Edy Rock (Edvaldo Pereira Alves) and their DJ, DJ KL Jay (Kleber Geraldo Lelis Simões). The group formed in 1989, but they did not rise to fame (within the outskirts of São Paulo at first) until 1993. This is the year that they recorded their first album, Raio-X do Brasil. The album was released at a party, with an estimated crowd of 10,000 people in the court of the samba school Rosas De Ouro. The rappers grew up in Capão Redondo on São Paulo’s south side. They eventually came to call themselves “the four most dangerous black men in Brazil.”
