Geraldo Filme
Geraldo Filme was born on August 25, 1927 in São João da Boa Vista Brazil. He grew up in a musical family, his grandmother would sing to him and his father played the violin. Geraldo spent considerable amounts of time in the makeshift samba and tiririca (capoeira) circles in Largo da Banana, which were created by the porters and shoeshine boys. Samba was forbidden at the time, along with a number of other Black cultural expressions. In an attempt to show his father that São Paulo produced high-quality samba, Geraldo Filme wrote his first samba, "Eu Vou Mostrar". Geraldo Filme attended the Bom Jesus de Pirapora festival, which attracted a sizable black audience. Geraldo's name is associated with São Paulo Carnival history. With schools respecting and appreciating him. Geraldo conducted research and wrote the samba Tebas, which narrates the origin of this term, which was commonly used by São Paulo locals in the last century and meant "the good" or "the best." During his final years, he dedicated himself to preparing the São Paulo Carnival, which helped him establish himself as a leading figure in the city's black community.
