Introduction to Wakelet

"The way we find information is changing. A few years ago, to research a topic you'd have to go to the library and comb through shelves of dusty old books. Now you can find videos, social media, pictures, documents, articles, journals, textbooks and much more from any device, wherever you are.

So with all of this knowledge out there, what can you do to set yourself apart from the next person who can Google anything in 10 seconds? It's not about how much you know; it's about how good you are at finding, presenting and sharing that knowledge.

But where do you begin to collect relevant information? How do you know what to keep and what to scrap? And once you’ve got it, what do you do with it?

That's what this task is all about. You'll pick a topic and research it online. You'll collect your research as you go, add images and notes to make it look amazing, then share your research with the world. By the end, you’ll know exactly how to research anything and share it with anyone.

We will be using Wakelet to support this guide. Wakelet is an online platform that enables you to organise any content on the internet, and to curate stunning, shareable collections called wakes."

Archiving your Tweets

1. Click the Twitter (i.e. bird) button next to "Add a link"
2. Select User, as you'll be importing your own tweets
3. You'll need to "Connect to Twitter" to authorize Wakelet to access your tweets
4. Type in your username and select the tweets you want to include
5. Check the "add in reverse order" box, as that'll display them in chronological order
6. Click "add" and then finish the collection by adding an image, title etc., if you want - these things are optional
7. At the top of the page, change your visibility to "unlisted" (it won't display in Scalar if you leave it at the private default)
8. Save the collection and then on the top right of the next page, an embed button will appear
9. Uncheck the "Show collection title, description and cover image on embed" box if you didn't use a cover image or else a grey box will appear in its place
10. Copy the embed code
11. Open Scalar in a new tab and create a page for this archive
12. Click the "source button" (on the left) and paste in the embed code
13. Save and view the page
