‘A Woman of Great Courage’: Women in the Printing Trades in Early Modern Europe

Madeleine Thévenon (The widow of Claude Thiboust)

Madeleine Thévenon was the widow of Claude Thiboust (d. 1667), who was the son of Samuel Thiboust, the son-in-law of Anne Sauvage. She often worked in collaboration with printer Pierre Esclassan (1643?-1718), a former apprentice of her husband's, as well as with her son, Claude-Louis Thiboust from 1694. She published  as "viduam Claudii Thiboust".
