‘A Woman of Great Courage’: Women in the Printing Trades in Early Modern Europe

Francisca de Medina (active 1614-1639) (The widow of Alonso Martín)

Francisca Medina was the widow of Madrid printer Alonso Martín de Balboa, active 1603-1613. She managed his print shop after his death, publishing as "La viuda Alonso Martín". She was active as a printer for  20 years and printed over 200 books.
