Thanks for your patience during our recent outage at scalar.usc.edu. While Scalar content is loading normally now, saving is still slow, and Scalar's 'additional metadata' features have been disabled, which may interfere with features like timelines and maps that depend on metadata. This also means that saving a page or media item will remove its additional metadata. If this occurs, you can use the 'All versions' link at the bottom of the page to restore the earlier version. We are continuing to troubleshoot, and will provide further updates as needed. Note that this only affects Scalar projects at scalar.usc.edu, and not those hosted elsewhere.

For this workshop, you will provide written and oral feedback for your peers. Written feedback is due via hypothes.is before class on the day that student exhibits are scheduled for review.

Commenting effectively takes time, so plan to spend at least one hour per exhibit. As you look through each exhibit, pay close attention to its structure, assets, argument, and overall coherence. When commenting via hypothes.is, please address the following:
How is the exhibit set up?
Is the exhibit easy to navigate? What does the structure communicate?
What is the relationship between text and media? Does it facilitate or hinder communication?
Does the author put forth a clear historical interpretation? Explain.
Does the author effectively communicate to a public audience? Explain.
Does the author draw on and interpret the primary sources displayed?
What elements or sections of the exhibit need more work? Explain.
Does the exhibit fit within the broader framework of the collaborative project? Explain.
