Female Catholic composers of the past, particularly pre-reformation, are often forgotten or discredited to the point of hundreds of years of missing history during which women were almost certainly composing, however their compositions are equally meaningful as those of their male counterparts, and female composers were present, though not as prevalent due to differences in educational opportunity.
