Many Mexican families came to America because of work. Often, they would be hired to help build the railroad from Texas to California. After years of moving as they built the railroad, many families decided to settle down in California. Once they made their homes here these families often worked in the citrus industry packing and picking oranges.
2. Think about your own family history. When and how did your family come to California?
