Thanks for your patience during our recent outage at scalar.usc.edu. While Scalar content is loading normally now, saving is still slow, and Scalar's 'additional metadata' features have been disabled, which may interfere with features like timelines and maps that depend on metadata. This also means that saving a page or media item will remove its additional metadata. If this occurs, you can use the 'All versions' link at the bottom of the page to restore the earlier version. We are continuing to troubleshoot, and will provide further updates as needed. Note that this only affects Scalar projects at scalar.usc.edu, and not those hosted elsewhere.

Wow, this is really amazing Gary. I love it and wholeheartedly encourage you to make it.
It's particularly relevant to us because we happen to live in one of the few districts in Hawaii with a Republican representative in the state house, a Polynesian Mormon no less.
While he hasn't pursued a bathroom bill, which would have no chance in Hawaii, he has proposed a so-called "religious freedom" bill, which heads in similar nefarious directions.
As you proceed, I would encourage you to seek input from māhūwahine and a Hawaiian cultural advisor to make sure the underlying cultural aspects of the treatment are as accurate as possible.
Congrats on your work ... looking forward to seeing it come to fruition!
Joe
