Getting to know you exercise step one
Imagine that you have been invited to the first formal dinner held by the new President, and you have received a special privilege: the opportunity to speak alone with him/her for 20 minutes. This is your chance to make a connection as individuals, to advocate for the issues that are dearest to you, and to convince the President to act they way you would like at the outset of his/her term. Take 30 minutes to reflect and write on how you would speak in this scenario:
How would you address the President, what would you talk about, how would you try to influence him/her?
How would your approach and the content of what you say change if instead of speaking alone with the President, you were asked to address all the assembled guests?
