Home

This online archive presents materials representative of sexual assault prevention campaigns at the University of Michigan during the 1990s. The collection is based on archival research at the Bentley Historical Library and focuses on promotional and educational materials by the University of Michigan’s Sexual Assault Prevention and Awareness Center (SAPAC) to raise awareness about sexual assault and harassment, including posters about sexual assault prevention week programs as well as educational programs for student athletes.

To interact with this archive, follow the path below. Each section features a different theme. This list is not exhaustive and only includes a portion of SAPAC materials.

Some of the material includes graphic descriptions of sexual assault and may be upsetting or triggering to viewers. Included among the materials are: transcripts of student comments about gender roles and the prevalence of sexual assault on campus, posters designed to inform the campus community about issues related to sexual assault, and training materials for SAPAC staff and volunteers. These materials are from the 1990s and sometimes use outdated and gendered language when discussing sexual assault. Please take care of yourself while and after accessing this website. NOTE from Nora: I think it would be helpful to include more specific CNs before different parts of the site. See the Violence Against Women text for an example of how I think it might look…. I notice at least one other person included one too, but I think more specificity may be helpful
