Pueblo Football Rivalry: The Pueblo Football Bell Games

OTHER EXHIBITS

In the second floor of Pueblo Central High School resides a hidden room where students aren't allowed unless otherwise given permission by the athletic director. It is where students will sign for scholarships when they are accepted for college, it is where alumni who played a role in the community are displayed alongside their achievements. There is a small library of over 75 yearbooks. Shelves are stuffed with newspapers and magazines. Even old footballs and helmets are displayed in cases protecting them from the atmosphere and outside harm. Posters and trophies decorate the room that overlooks the cafeteria, so that students who are eating look up in hopes that one day their name will be on display for the future generations to see.
This room is full of memorabilia making it easy to loose focus. The museum holds no special place for bell game materials but there are exhibits on players who played the rivalry and bell games. There of course are photos in the year books as these are decorated with pages focused on the bell games and the photos of the football teams during that year. Also, photos of coaches and teams are scattered in frames on the walls. This room provides those who enter with a culture shock that makes them bleed blue for the high school. The fact that the high school has memorabilia on the game means that they understand the importance of this rivalry, not only to the school, but to the town as well. With various exhibits on the Bell game providing information to the public, our scalar is the first digital project on the topic.
