Petroleum, Refineries, and the Future

Corrosion in Production Operations

Refinery process is said to be one of the most important processes in the oil industry and production of petroleum products in an article "6.8 Corrosion in Production Operations". A multitude of different types of carefully engineered structures and materials are used in the refinery process. Due to the large variety and number of devices and structures used, all these units require different engineering, metals and conditions. Due to the difference in exposure of these units to different environmental conditions, the phenomenon of corrosion in refinery operations is not uncommon ("6.8 Corrosion in Production Operations”).
