Mary as One of the Many Who Fled
Students created an interactive board game on the topic of Mary and Borders: “This is a variation of the popular board game, ‘Chutes and Ladders,’ but it has been adapted to what our group learned about the diversity of Latino/Latina religious experiences and communities in North America. Our attitudes toward Latinx culture entering this class have changed tremendously as the curriculum reflected on the traditions, relationships to the environment, and injustices done to the people of Central and South America. “Mary as one of the many who fled” was the theme of our project. The Virgin Mary, as depicted in the Bible, specifically acts as a beacon of hope for those who might be displaced or in exile due to injustices in certain countries around the world.” View, download, and print the board game and instructions here and the game cards here.
