League of Women Voters of Lafayette

Introduction

Welcome to the League of Women Voters (LWV) digital exhibit. LWV is a national organization with chapters all over the country, aiming to promote political activism and participation on various civics issues. While voting rights are one of the primary issues LWV takes to heart, they push for awareness for all kinds of issues including education, infrastructure, and social justice. As a nonpartisan group, LWV has worked to spread the importance of voting and get citizens involved in governmental concerns for 100 years.

This exhibit is divided into three sections: Section 1 covers the Lafayette, LA League; Section 2 covers the Louisiana League as a whole; and Section 3 covers the national organization. Items courtesy of the University Archives and Acadiana Manuscripts Collection at Edith Garland Dupré Library. The materials presented in this exhibit originate from the League of Women Voters of Lafayette (Louisiana) Records (UAAMC-COLL-0124) and the Ollie Tucker Osborne Papers (UAAMC-COLL-0093). More information about LWV is available on their websites, with links available on the landing pages of each section.
