English Description:
The flute is the oldest known instrument. It almost always takes the form of a cylinder with holes in different locations so as to produce harmonic sounds when certain holes are blocked. Flutes can be made of virtually any material, and are part of the woodwind family. Flutes have been around for more than 40,000 years and were often associated with a calming presence. During the middle ages one might frequently hear the phrase “A note of this is able to calm the world,” in regards to the flute. It is for this reason that it came to symbolize the struggle for freedom in South America during the late 19th and 20th centuries.
