At about 12:27pm on the 12th of June, Alfred “Kent” Gatward, an RAF pilot, along with his navigator Gilbert Fern, take a Bristol Beaufighter straight through the Champs-Élysées and drop a Tricolore at either end of the street as well as spraying le Ministère de la Marine with gunfire both instances they passed.
