  Louis Mountbatten, prince of Battenberg (1900-1979) was a British Naval officer and the last viceroy over India.
  
  The start to his Naval career began in 1913 with the British Royal Navy. In 1921, Mountbatten became the “aide-de-camp to the Prince of Wales (Encyclopedia Britannica Online)”. During WWII, he was promoted to be the commander of an aircraft carrier in 1941. While one year later, he became “acting vice admiral and a de facto member of the chiefs of staff (Encyclopedia Britannica Online).”
  
  From 1943-1946, Mountbatten was the “supreme allied commander for Southeast Asia.” Post WWII, as the viceroy of India, he helped organize the removal of the British government from India and Pakistan. ​
