Henry R. Maresh Papers

Henry R. Maresh Papers, [ca. 1900s-1950s], Dolph Briscoe Center for American History, Box 3H179 , The University of Texas at Austin.

Henry R. Maresh (1890-1954) was a Texas Czech-American who attended the University of Texas at Austin in the early 20th century.  Known for his contributions to Czech-Texas scholarship, he most famously collaborated with Estelle Hudson in writing “Czech Pioneers of the Southwest,” a comprehensive account of Czechs who migrated to Texas.  His essays and notes not only show us the life of a student at a younger version of UT Austin but also give us insights into the life of a Czech-American in Texas.
