Památník Cechoslováku

Památník Cechoslováku, compiled by Josef Buňata Josef, 1846-, Call Number  F- TZZ 325.2437 B881P 192, Dolph Briscoe Center for American History, The University of Texas at Austin.

Memorial Book/ Scrap Book of Czechoslovakians (in America)

Památník has pictures and descriptions of multiple Czech organizations in Texas and Louisiana during the period of 1914-1920.  Organizations, both fraternal and with women, helped Texas Czechs maintain their unique culture in America.  While Czech culture has surely joined the American "melting-pot," its endurance comes from an emphasis on interpersonal ties within the ethnicity.  Official Czech organizations also helped immigrants adapt to American society and navigate finances and real estate.
