What is Fairtrade?

 

Trade that ensures fair prices are paid to producers in developing countries.

 

Fairtrade Certified is a non-profit company that works on the ground with producers to certify transactions between companies and their suppliers to ensure that the people making Fairtrade Certified goods use sustainable practices, work in safe conditions, and earn a living wage.

 

The heart of Fair Trade:

Social, environmental, and economic development.

The social criteria cover standards for producers.

The environmental aspect requires for the use of environmentally sustainable growing practices.

The economic development covers the minimum Fair Trade price that aims to help producers cover sustainable production costs and pay workers a fair wage.
