Rose Parade Float Queen

Brenda A. English (right), float Queen of first African American sponsored float ever ordered in the annual Pasadena Rose Parade. The Float won the theme prize with "Freedom bursts Forth," having a flowered replica of the Lincoln Memorial stature backed by an empty floral rocking chair symbolizing the Emancipation Proclamation.
