Refugees in Los Angeles

Refugees, Los Angeles, 1962
First AME, L.A Urban League and Travelers Aid provided support for the families, finding homes and jobs. Rev. H. H. Brookins and the Urban League welcomed the families to Los Angeles and provided resources to help them settle. Rev. Brookins holds Charles, the son of Fannie and Peola Denham (standing center). Wesley R. Brazier, Executive Director of the Urban League (far right). The Denham and their ten children did not realize they were being duped by the White Citizens Council.
