Effective Uses of Ineffective Designs

Contrast and Color

When it comes to creating contrast, the color wheel is your best point of reference. Complementary colors create the most contrast, meaning colors that are on exact opposite sides of the color wheel. Picking complementary colors ensures that your text will have plenty of contrast, but some shades, like blue and orange, can clash enough to give you a headache, and others, like red and green, have ingrained connotations that you may not want. White backgrounds and black text are the default for most designs.
