Emerson Avenue Community Garden

The second week of our program, we were given the opportunity to visit the Emerson Avenue Community Garden in the neighborhood of Westchester, in Los Angeles, California. The students were given a lesson by volunteers on composting,vermi-composting, and the benefits of a community garden. Volunteers were nice enough to allow students to pick some of the vegetables from their garden plots and take the vegetables home with them. The students were very excited to take home the food and try to make dinner with it after our trip. Thank you very much to the great people at Emerson Avenue Community Garden we really enjoyed this experience!
