Annotations and Tags
Annotations enable you to comment on aspects of media files by adding layers of text on top of the media files. For example, there are annotations on the "Create Media Item from URL" item, explaining different elements of the form. Each annotation becomes its own page or item within Scalar.
Tags are a second way to augment your items. Tags behave in a unique way in Scalar. They are for setting up relationships between elements within Scalar and are directional - a page or media element can be a tag of another or can be tagged with another. One way to think of tags is as "buckets" for holding related things.
The reason to work with tags is that they power many of the built in visualizations within Scalar. Tags can be used to show relationships between media objects, between pages, to create timelines, to create network graphs, and so on.
