Chapter 5.4-Mission4Maureen Evaluation
The incredible work of Mission4Maureen is not only recognized by people in the Cleveland community, but also many organizations nationwide. In 2009, the organization received the GreatNonProfits Cancer Fighters Award as the Best Cancer Charity of the Midwest. It also earned the GuideStar Exchange Seal by demonstrating its commitment to transparency, registering and filing tax forms with the IRS, and reporting annual revenue and expense data. Furthermore, Mission4Maureen obtained the rating of a Good News Giving Top Tier Winner. In 2016, it won the prestigious honor of Top-Rated Nonprofit from GreatNonProfits.
Mission4Maureen deserves all of these awards for the way that if functions efficiently as a foundation, while truly assisting families through a tough time. Mission4Maureen holds a number of events to attract donors and raise awareness about their mission. These events-the Fall Ball, Boom Box Open, an Annual Fund campaign, and many smaller fundraisers which take place in the Cleveland area-draw people into the city from all over Ohio and help to revitalize Cleveland. Each year more people are attending these events, raising more money that can go toward helping families. Mission 4 Maureen is effective in that through an application process, it verifies and reviews patient applications and awards grants based upon individual need and available funds. This process ensures effective and efficient allocation of financial assistance among all of the patients who apply for help.
Mission4Maureen is a truly special nonprofit that is continuing to grow and has the potential to help millions of families who are going through a difficult time. Other programs that exist give money to hospitals in an attempt to help families who are burdened by the cost of treatment. However, Mission4Maureen is unique in that it assists these desperate families directly. Mission4Maureen shows that sometimes smaller nonprofits are able to accomplish what larger organizations, such as hospitals, cannot.
